About Kristine...
  • This is my sand box, something I did just to have fun. A place where there is no restrictions on design and use of fun scripts.
  • Yes! I like pink! (it doesn't all have to be blue tones you know..)
  • Design addict
  • I am addicted to design, both at home and at work... It totally fascinates me to see good-looking, easy-to-use stuff.
  • I work with design and usability in web applications, so naturally I have an interest for stuff like html, css, jsp, php, design, usability....
  • Stuff
  • I love love love the word 'Stuff', and I am not afraid to use it. Why? 'Stuff' can be both hardware and software. It demands no explicity. It is easy to pronounce and easy to write. Everybody can relate to it, as opposed to words like "services, runtime, selectors, transissions"... It's all just stuff anyway.
  • Being a part time student (including full time working mother of three...)
  • I am a student, totally relying on e-learning tools to get through my Bachelor. I am a great fan of this way to learn. It saves a lot of time, and forces you to make the learning journey entirely on your own.
  • People keep asking me: 'When are you finished?'
  • Well, someday....

About Design...
  • About design
  • Design is everything!
  • Ok, I agree, the crap needs to work as well, but it is incredible how much people will pay for good design.
  • Look at the Iphone... It is a totally overpriced phone, (with a lot of useful stuff of course) with incredible usability and design.
  • Design sells everywhere, at work (that is a pretty page header..), at home (oh mom, that cake is really nicely decorated) and with friends (wow, that is a cool coat)!
  • Design for web applications
  • Working with commercial pages is one thing. There is no need to argue that design matters when you are trying to sell something.
  • Working with web applications that are going to be used on a daily basis, on the other hand, has entirely different challenges.
  • The Java based frameworks I work with might not support the simplest of things, so finding escapes out of the strangest restrictions is becoming an art of survival.
  • Suddenly you are in a situation where everybody will see and use your design every working day, but at the same time the priority is something like: 'Beauty comes last' or: 'I don't care how it looks as long as it works' or even: 'This is just some styling, not important to the project'.
  • So, with these inspiring words, I get to work.
  • User alert!
  • I try to spend some good time trying to figure out what the users really use, and why they use it.
  • This might take some time, and I always like to 'get my hands dirty' (that is, try to do their job, or at least sit and watch them).
  • Then I try my best to figure out what they don't need (save some time and money).
  • To keep yourself and your users a little happy, add a tablespoon of easy-to-maintain, well-aligned-to the company's-branding 'art' to the stuff (we need a little shape and color!)

About Music...
  • I love music, and greatly enjoy playing and singing in a company band, with no higher ambitions than to enjoy myself.
  • Some music projects here...
  • For the time being, we are working on some Melissa Etheridge covers...
  • I can't stand the rain, Somebody bring me some water, Let me go....
  • They are a little heavy, but I really enjoy singing them.
